25 weeks to go #twit2fit

The OBX marathon is on November 8, 2009.  That’s 25 weeks away.  That’s also a long way to go for someone who has not put 25 weeks of running together in over a year.

I just completed my first 40 mile week in over three months, finishing with a 6.9 mile run with the jogging stroller in in 1:07:53 (9:50/mile).  It was 60′F outside, sunny, and I was running uphill into a headwind for at least a half-mile of the run.

This also marks day 50 of my running streak.  From here on, I will need to increase carefully and consistently to meet my ultimate goal.  My current PR for a marathon is 3:39.  My second best time is 4:30.

  • Brother, that's some determination - streak day 12 #twit2fit Normally, I don't like comments from people as I run by them while I'm running the neighborhoods, but that's usually because of the "Run, Forrest, Run" style comments.  It's probably part of the reason that I like running at 6:30 am.  Well, today was different.  A guy who was outside......
  • Progressive Long Run (16 miles) while watching the game #twit2fit #running One of the things that's great about football season is that you can easily do a long run on the treadmill while watching the game.  I did mine today at home on my Sole F80 at a 1% incline (watching the UofL-UK game). I've been doing my long runs at......
  • Sockless in the Mizuno Wave Rider 9s, 3.1 miles. #twit2fit Streak day 8. I broke out my first model of running shoes (Mizuno Wave Rider 9s) to run tonight, to see if the running in them affects me differently than in my other shoes.  Since my thin socks are just about completely worn out, I ran in my shoes without......
  • Happy National Running Day #twit2fit Storms were rolling in this morning when I'd normally venture outside, so I hit the treadmill in the basement for 6 miles in 58:30 (9'45"/mile).  After the double runs yesterday (4.6 in the morning and 5.6 in 87 degree weather at lunch), this was a pretty rough run. I can......
  • New Workout Type: Jogging Failboat #twit2fit I took my 8 month old for a 4 1/2 mile runjog in the jogging strollerfailboat.  I'm already slightly unaccustomed to running in the sunny warm weather, running on hills, running without foam cushioning (used my Mizunos today).  I decided to add to that a nice bulky jogging stroller......
  • Streak day 20! #twit2fit Was a little dehydrated and had allergy issues this morning.  Oh, and scratchy technical shirt, 4.3 miles, an extra 10 pounds, and no band-aids is a bad mix.  Throbbing headache and little stinging sensations. 4.3 miles in 0:41:02, for 09:33/mile pace 4x15 sec strides (up to sub-6 pace) at around......
